Physinews:The police in Gombe State have arrested three
persons suspected to have conspired, forcefully confined, and tortured
two underage girls wrongly accused of witchcraft, leading to the death
of one of the girls.
This was contained in a press statement signed and made available to the Premium Times by the Public Relations Officer , Ahmed Usman. The spokesperson listed the suspects as James Awak, Adamu Zakka and Hannatu Awak.
He also mentioned the names of the underage victims, aged 9 and 13.

Mr. Usman said they were tortured for two weeks, some liquid substance was rubbed on their body after which a horse whip was used to beat them.
He
said a screwdriver was also used to inflict injuries on the girls as a
result of which the nine year old, Abigail Lara, died and was buried in
an unmarked grave.

The deputy superintendent of police said the suspects have already been charged to court for committing an offence punishable under Nigerian laws
