Nigerian Mum Dumps Newborn Baby In Airport's Toilet Bin To Catch Flight (photos)

physinews:A Nigerian Woman has been arrested in Austria on suspicion of throwing her baby into an airport toilet because she did not want to miss her "connecting" flight.

The dead baby was discovered in a plastic bag in the toilet’s bin by a cleaner at Vienna’s Schwechat International Airport in Austria.

The 27-year-old Nigerian mother was then found sleeping in the waiting area nearby. Local media reported the woman was flying from Minsk, Belarus, to Washington, US.

Although, it has not been confirmed how the baby died, The woman claims she thought the newborn was already dead.
"I threw the baby away in order not to miss my connecting flight" - she added.
Mystery surrounds when and how the baby died.

Officials have ordered a post-mortem examination to find out how the baby passed away.

Meanwhile, The woman has been put in pre-trial detention.

Prosecutor Friedrich Koehl said she is being investigated on suspicion of killing the child.

If charged and found guilty, she could face between six months and five years in jail.
