November 1 morning after a bomb
exploded inside a pickup van in Borno state Nigeria.
According to the report, improvised
explosive devices (IEDs) were being
conveyed in the pickup van when it
exploded and killed all passengers on
board.
The pickup van reportedly emerged from
the bush path along Maiduguri-Gubio town
carrying the nine passengers but it
exploded just after getting to the tarred
road heading towards Gubio, a town 80 km
away from Maiduguri.
The police has confirmed the incident with
its spokesperson Victor Isuku, a Deputy
Superintendent of Police, saying: “There
was an explosion today along Gubio road
just before the military check point,” he
said.
“According to preliminary report, a pick up
van with nine persons onboard, emerged
from a bush path to join the road to Gubio
town, when it exploded killing all the
persons onboard.”
Premium Times notes that Tuesday’s blast
is the fifth in a series of recent bomb
attacks within and around Maiduguri in the
last three weeks.
