Physinews:On Wednesday, a magistrates court in Ikeja sentenced
23-year-old, Fatai Obadeyi, to three years imprisonment for stealing a
generator valued at N60,000.
Chief Magistrate M.O. Osinbajo sentenced the accused after he pleaded guilty to the charge.
“Based on the facts of this case, confirmed report and the plea of leniency, I hereby sentence you to three years imprisonment without an option of fine,” she held.
The case’s prosecutor, Sgt Yomi Egunjobi, told the court that Obadeyi committed the offence on Oct. 30 at about 3am at No. 55, Giwa Street, Ilupeju, Lagos Nigeria.
Fatai Obadeyi, who resides at No. 3, Matomi Street, Ilupeju, Lagos was accused of stealing the generator belonging to one Mr Aro Olusanya. Sgt. Egunjobi also added that the accused took the stolen generator to the Mushin Area of Lagos where he sold it to one Ubong, who is now at large.
“But luck ran out on Obadeyi when he came back to the same area on Nov. 1 to steal another generator and phones. The convict was apprehended while trying to abscond with the stolen items and handed over to the police,” Egunjobi said.
He said the accused contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
