Vanguardng reported that Delta State Police
Command has arrested two suspected child
traffickers for alleged theft of a five-year-old
female pupil of Skyset Academy, Asaba, to be
sold for N12 million at Onitsha, Anambra State East Nigeria.
Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Zanna,
announced this yesterday while parading the
suspects alongside 66 others arrested for
armed robbery, cultism, kidnapping, murder,
vandalism and oil bunkering.
He said the two traffickers were apprehended
by men of the command following a tip-off. He
explained that they had planned the operation
to raise money to bail the popular Madam Cash
and her cohorts, who were in police custody for
running baby factories and child trafficking
syndicate among other sundry crimes.
Attributing the recent spate of crime in the state
to the ember months, Zanna noted that the
command is embarking on a robust visibility
policing through foot and motorised patrol, joint
patrol with sister agencies, traffic control,
intelligence and information gathering and
sharing to ensure that crime was wiped off the
state.
Meanwhile, Delta State Governor, Senator
Ifeanyi Okowa, yesterday, donated 10 Hilux
security vans to the state Police Command as
part of his administration’s efforts in assisting
the police to tackle the problem of insecurity,
particularly in the yuletide season.
Presenting the vans to the Commissioner of
Police, Mr. Zanna Ibrahim, Okowa disclosed
that the security vans were to assist the new
special security unit codenamed Eagle Net.
